Scent in the voyages
Consumer behavior change is what all business are dying for. If
they can crack the code, you know the result. That's why there is a discipline called
behavioral science. Small, Crafty changes to existing products or services can present
striking results.
Let's go back to 10 -15 years back when 688688 taxi service was active and think of the
booking process you will have to go through. I know its a hassle.
Of course, a telephone call had to be made, proper communication and explanation had to
be done (Pick Up and directions) and at the end of the trip, cash had to be there and
the driver sometimes did not have the change. So all sort of problems to annoy a person.
Some brilliant and awesome taxi apps (Pickme in LK) had seen this issue and addressed it
marvelously.
Now you can book a taxi like a King or a Queen, with pinpoint precision and you get to
observe the drivers progress (On the map), the expected arrival time as well. Its no
stress zone all together. No irritation.
More benefits! Cash payment is an option and the credit cards can be registered to the
app so the pain of carrying the cash around is fired. (Not only rides they have pickme
food, trucks, market and many more).
So have you ever thought that the behavior of getting a taxi would be this easier? Now
we hardly call a taxi service instead the app is our viable option and it has profited
the business immensely because the usage has colossally increased.
So the mentioned small 'Nudges' have given these business models an immense stature and
literally they are just on fire. They have done some improvements to an existing
service. Simply put, some subtle behavioral interventions.
To end, businesses should understand the power of behavioral science and the unthinkable
change it can bring to the table.
